Shree Sai Krupa Ispat Pvt. Ltd. has completed the up gradation of the plant, which will enable it to produce SAI TMT Bars that are known for their numerous advantages over the CTD Bars or Tor Steel. These SAI TMT Bars are preferred in India and the Western Region, particularly in earthquake prone zones. The globalization of the economy has now brought an awareness of the deficiencies of CTD Bars as seen by the increased demand for TMT Bars in the country and Shree Sai Ispat has taken the lead to produce these bars of quality standards.
- These bars ensure greater safety due to very high elongation values of 16 - 25%.
- The use of high strength SAI TMT Bars allows a saving of 10-15% in steel consumption.
- In most developed countries, only such rebars with minimum 420 - 500 N/mm2 yield strength (against 415 N/mm2 in CTD Bars) are specified for RCC work.
Red-hot steel bar coming of finishing stand passes through TMT process plant which by its special water quenching process turns its periphery into a tempered martensite (hard) zone while keeping its inner surface ferrite pearlite (soft).
The bar is subjected to heat treatment in three successive stages. The first stage of Ă˘€śquenchingĂ˘€ť begins when hot rolled bar leaves finishing stand and is rapidly quenched by a special water spray system. This converts the surface layer of the bar to hardened structure called Ă˘€śMartensite" while core remain austenitic.
The second stage of self-tempering begins when bar leaves the TMT Process plant. In this stage, heat flows through the core to the surface that results in the tempering of surface giving a structure called Ă˘€śTempered MartensiteĂ˘€ť. The Core is still austenitic.
The third stage of Ă˘€śatmospheric coolingĂ˘€ť is on the Cooling bed, where the austenitic core is transformed to a ductile ferrite core.

Heat Resistance : SAI TMT BARS have high thermal Stability. They are preferred when elevated temperature of 4000- 6000 C are encountered particularly in chimneys, furnaces, etc. Corrosion Resistance : SAI TMT BARS show negligible or no rusting for a long time mainly or account of absence of surface stresses caused by the cold twisting and Tor Steel process.
